Let’s talk Open Science

Wednesdays in February, tune in for the Open Science and Reproducibili-Tea discussion series

Join us live on the Libraries Twitch channel on Wednesdays in February at 12:00 p.m. for conversations about open science and tea! Open Knowledge Librarian Micah Vandegrift and Postdoctoral Research Scholar Sheila Saia will share their open science knowledge through an informal, intro-level discussion, teaching concepts along the way.

“As software, publishing, and data management processes adapt to new technologies, Sheila and I explore how academic knowledge and information moves into the public sphere,” Vandegrift says. “And, just for fun, we begin each discussion with a tea-related chat, inspired by our colleagues at Oxford University's Reproducibili-Tea Journal Club.”

Upcoming discussions will highlight: open (kombucha) knowledge; academic credit, contributors, and chai; and diversity, documentation, and darjeeling. This program is the first in a developing initiative to connect NC State's great work in public science, 21st-century extension, and open research with a global movement toward a more inclusive, invitational, and interconnected research system.

Anyone can watch the livestream, and if you have a free Twitch account, you can send your questions and comments in the live chat. We're happy to answer your questions or refer you to someone who can help. Recordings of past streams are available on our Twitch page after the event.
